What I've learned from workshop

I think that workshop has been a great experience for me as a writer and future English teacher. I was in a Creative Expressions class in high school that was pretty much the same set up as our class, but with a lower level of experience in writing poetry. I hated it then, probably because I didn’t think I was that great of a writer. I feel that I’ve definitely improved over the past semester not only on my writing, but also in my speaking. As for teaching, I always dreamed of teaching an elective creative writing class in a high school, mostly because I think it would be really insightful. I feel that hearing the views of people at that age is a rare thing, and in the form of poetry, it could be really good for the students. I think that the adolescent mind is extremely interesting, mostly because nothing is concrete and change is constant. So hopefully I will have the chance, but for now I guess reading college-age writers will have to suffice.
