Closing Thoughts

When I began this class, I was not at all interested in reading or writing poetry; I only took it for the credit. But as the semester went on, I began to realize that poetry isn’t as boring as I once thought. At first, I was only aware of a handful of poets, who weren’t exactly interesting or inspiring. Yet this class has really opened my eyes to many fascinating poets who have really transformed my work. Out of all of my classes this semester, this one was most definitely my favorite. It was the most interactive and fun class that I have taken throughout my college experience, but has it also taught me a lot about my writing and myself in general.

The assignments were also surprisingly interesting. Writing and revising poems was not the easiest task for me, but it was definitely rewarding. Learning about other poets was also a great experience, because it opened my eyes to many new ways of writing. I didn’t think that I would enjoy reading two collections of work by the same two poets, but I actually found that I enjoyed it. Shockingly, I could barely put the books down once I got them, and I wanted to keep reading their work so much that I began looking up more poems online. The blog posts were also a great way for me to communicate and learn from other students. It was also a nice outlet for me to express my thoughts and emotions about poetry and writing in general.
