My Presentation
So I got all ready to my presentation on Wednesday, and class was canceled. Then on Thursday night my drunken roommate wanted to talk all night, and I missed Friday's class. I chose to take poems from Shel Silverstein and Edgar Allen Poe, two of my favorite poets. I thought it would make for an interesting presentation because of the huge difference between the styles of each poet. Silverstien tends to keep his poems short and sweet, while Poe is almost long winded. Also Poe tends to be dark and gloomy while Silverstein writes light and witty poems. When writing my our poems in each of the styles, I found the latter much easier to get out, and had to spent a lot more time than I usually do to write something that was closer to how Poe wrote. Because of the effort it took, I was pretty pleased with what I got, and find myself wishing we had some more workshop days so I could get feedback.
