Presentation
For my poetry presentation, I chose Wallace Stevens and Frank O'Hara. When we first talked about all the different poets in class, I found it pretty boring. When we came across Wallace Stevens, I enjoyed his poetry because of the detail and beautiful imagery he used in his poetry. He believed that if someone was to take the time to look at the world in a different light, you would see that even the simplest things have beauty. The poem i really enjoyed that he wrote spoke all about the way thing weren't. Usually in poems, you write about the way things are. He took a more interesting route, and wrote in vivid detail about how things are not. For example, the snow is not hot. I was really drawn to his writing. I chose Frank O'Hara because I liked the way he wrote so freely. He wrote like he was just speaking about another day. I liked his writing because whenever I am trying to write a poem, I feel like I am always focused to much on the way it sounds, the way it is structured, and using different elements of the poetry language. O'Hara inspired me to write exactly what I am thinking and feeling at the time I write the poem. Overall the project helped me to tap into a different form of writing which I enjoyed.
