Favorite poets

Before taking this class I had heard of very few well known poets, some of which include Shakespeare, Dickinson, Hughes, Frost, Eliot and Stowe. Throughout this class we have learned about many other poets some of which I have started to like their writing styles. For our presentation we had to find two poets and study/ read their collections. If we did not have to do that I highly doubt I would have discovered the two poets I used for mine. After reading their poems I have come to admire them, and they have become my favorite poets, their names are Gerard Hopkins and Jack Gilbert. I like the formers use of relating everything to God, since he is a priest it only makes sense. I also like the latter’s use of descriptions on how he feels and the way his poems look, I really like and enjoy. Some poets I am not too fond of are Dickinson because her poems seem way to dark for my taste, as in I could not write about seeing myself dead on a table from above, death is a scary thing.
