So, I wanted to share a poem on here. I randomly wrote it while sitting indian style, in the fall wind with a cup of tea. I have found that connecting with my muse has become easier with practice, agreed? Also in learning about the different elements found in poetry and being able to recognize them I have found that they have helped me grow as a writer. I've gotten some really good base work from picking one element like we do in class and writing a poem using just that. It has also lead to me being able to better understand the true meaning of it. I really enjoy the fact that i see the improvements in my writing. In connecting with my muse and just writing whatever comes to mind, the elements seem to just find themselves coming out on my paper without me even meaning to. I like that it is becoming more natural rather than forced. Anyway, here is the poem that I'd like to share, and feedback is always welcome : )

I feel the same way as you with muse work, and writing in general, being easier than before this course. Although sometimes the exercises in class are hard for me at times, I have definitely broadened my range of writing poetry. My muse also is a lot easier to get a hold of.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is really nice, I like it a lot!
I've been writing a lot about Fall, so I really appreciate reading this. One thing I love about your poem is that, while reading it, I could feel how you were feeling. Also I love how you talk about your first break and smell of the season because that is the best feeling I could ever think of!
All in all I love the poem. You should share it, and send it to The Great Lake Review (the student lit. magazine)
Keep it up!
I also feel the same way about the Muse work and how over time it has gotten easier and helped me develop into a better writer. I always wrote poetry by using end rhyme and like you said "forcing," in a way words that I just thought made sense. In connecting with the Muse I am able to dig deeper and find emotions that I was before unaware that I even had. This poem is GREAT!!! and I really enjoyed all the details you included. You helper me connect with your strong imagery to the point that I felt like I was there with you. I also agree that you should share this poem it has great potential!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, this is a great poem! You use descriptions in a way that grabs the reader's attention. I too find that tapping into my Muse has gotten easier when writing poetry. I also feel that switching to freestyle poetry as opposed to metered poetry has helped me concentrate more on the content rather than the grammatical aspects. Through revision I bring in different poetry techniques to "spice up" my poem, such as dashes, enjambments, etcetera.
